Skull Empire Chronicles

The Exta Primarius Incident - Part 1 - Planetfall

---

At the northern arms of the Empyrean galaxy was the Extaten sub-sector located within the Takpeth sector. The largest and main planet of the sub-sector was Exta Primarius, a planet uncontested by the major powers of the Empyrean galaxy and left the native inhabitants to do as they wish.

But it did not stop individuals from adventuring to the planet.

As the Eye of Lumine held position in geostationary orbit of the planet. Down below on the planet's surface, above the lush green forest landscape of the planet were three air bikes soaring at high speeds. The lead and centre air bike was flown by the Imperial Princess herself, Lumine, accompanied by two others.

Flanking her on the left the apathetic, brooding, calm daughter of the Imperial Governor of Halican, Seph and the energetic, cheerful acrobatic and martial artist, Jo Lei.

Although her father had mostly been absent in her life, it did not stop him from having a hand in her life, upbringing and education. During the years of the Empyrean War, Nagash had Lumine sent there to be educated at the Imperial Academy for Girls. It was here where she met Seph and Jo Lei, the three becoming fast good friends.

Approaching their intended destination, the three air bikes descended towards the ground and entered the ancient ruins of what was once a city. Arriving at a clearing of what had been a city square, the three slowly came to a stop.

The Imperial Princess of Repulus wore her normally loose black hair in a messy bun style that gave off an almost regal appearance. Lumine wore a long ankle length black leather coat with an upturned collar decorated with two gold six eyed dragon heads attached to the shoulders of the coat that was held closed by a belt with the winged skull emblem of the Skull Empire. Under the coat the Imperial Princess wore a maroon halterneck along with her twinned dragon necklace, plain black trousers and knee high leather boots.

Seph dismounted from her air bike and looked at the area before closing her amber eyes. Her grey, bronze and dark red robes blew softly in the wind as two beamsabre hilts hung from her belt. “What a dull and lifeless location that we've come to.” she bluntly remarked as she blew her long black bangs out of her face revealing a curved amber coloured triangle shape gem.

“How can you say that when we've only just arrived?” asked Jo Lei as she stood up on the seat of her air bike before jumping right next to her friend's location. “Besides Seph, who knows what we'll find here.”

Seph opened her eyes and glanced over Jo Lei’s face as she saw her smile as her blue tear drop shaped gem and grey eyes gave off sort of a twinkle. The two items seemed to compliment Jo Lei's cheery complexion. Unlike the other two women, Jo Lei was really the odd one in their trio. She was the type of person whose energy could light up a room in contrast to her companions. Even her clothing was different from theirs. Unlike her best friends, Jo Lei wore a purple midriff top which showed off her well toned abs along with a gold athletic medal, a light grey pleated mini skirt covering her purple knee length shorts, and a pair of green wrap around sandals. She crossed her bracer covered arms and replied as her fashionable yet functional metal shoulder pads glistened in the sunlight.

Looking away from her friend, Seph responded, “It's the only reason I came here and it is still keeping me here.”

“Besides being friends of course.” said the acrobat with a wink.

Dismounting from her air bike, Lumine surveyed the area. She said, “Seph, please head to that vantage point and keep watch for any uninvited guests.”

“Of course Princess Lumine.” said Seph with a nod. As Seph moved up towards the location she noticed that her companions were conversing about something. Most likely something trivial.

Jo Lei made her way over towards Lumine as she raised a hand to her light brown bob cut styled hair and brushed it out of her face. She stared at her own reflection in the polished metal of the long silver bracelet around her left wrist, in it containing a communication device and personal teleporter.

“This is Seph.” came her voice from Jo Lei’s bracelet. Snapping back into reality Jo Lei listened carefully as Seph continued speaking with some minor static interference on the channel, “Location reached, proceeding to watch the vicinity.”

“Copy that, keeping the channel open.” responded Jo Lei who lowered her arm afterwards. “This place looks old.” stated Jo Lei observing, “Around about several millennia old.”

As she operated a pop up terminal on the rear of her air bike, Lumine nodded, “About the same estimation that I made Jo Lei.”

The acrobat began to observe her surroundings as the Imperial Princess continued with her work. She remained silent for a few minutes before trying to make conversation, “So… scanning for artefacts?”

“I am but I’m running into trouble.” answered Lumine as she recalibrated the scanning frequency.

“Trouble?” asked Jo Lei who leaned her head over to one side. She looked over her friend’s shoulder at the terminal asking, “What kind?”

Shutting the terminal off, the Imperial Princess said, “The interference around here is ridiculous.” Turning away and crossing her arms, she asked herself aloud, “How is this possible?”

“Probably due to some sort of jamming device nearby.” guessed Jo Lei who shrugged, “Though it would explain about the comm line.”

“Highly unlikely seeing as we're the only ones here.” stated Lumine as she took some steps away from Jo Lei and the bikes.

“That is no longer the case.” came Seph’s voice, “Princess Lumine, we have an incoming visitor heading here at high speed.”

“Heading?” called out Lumine.

“From the same direction we came from.” responded Seph. “I’m on my way back to lend you assistance.”

The Imperial Princess kept watching the entrance way as she said, “Jo Lei, the binoculars, quick!” The acrobat pressed a button on the dashboard of Lumine’s air bike which caused a draw to slide open. Jo Lei took hold of the item she was after and handed them over to Lumine. Looking through them she zoomed in on the approaching stranger, as she recognised not only the skimmer which was coming towards them, but who was piloting it. Lowering them back down, her eyes narrowed as she tilted her head she sighed, “Great.”

Taking a deep breath, Jo Lei said, “Lumy.” She stopped for a second before tentatively asking, “Who is it?”

“My dear father.” answered the Imperial Princess, passing the binoculars back as she pursed her lips.

Riding aboard his Air Chariot, Praetor Nagash headed towards his daughter's present location through the ancient pathway. Noticing the onboard radar buzzing with interference, Nagash adjusted controls to fix it but to no avail. Believing it to be an equipment fault, the Imperial Leader made a mental note to see it checked out later as he arrived at his destination, catching sight of the three women. Once he had brought his Air Chariot to a halt, Nagash disembarked the vehicle and stood opposite them as he said, “Hello Lumine and greetings Seph and Jo Lei.”

Seph bowed her head whilst Jo Lei gave a small cheery wave as Lumine enquired, “Why are you here dear father?”

The Imperial Leader crossed his arms behind his back as he began walking towards them as he said, “General Fefnir spoke to me about your little trip here and it got me thinking.” He brought a hand to his bearded chin and held it as he thought aloud, “What brings the Princess of the Skull Empire, the Governor of Halican's daughter and a Colonel's double gold medal winning acrobatic daughter here?” He paused and turned his head to look around, “Exta Primarius is an unimportant, backwater world which has no strategic value to the Skull Empire or any other organisation in the Empyrean galaxy.”

Rolling her eyes, Lumine stated, “Is that your opinion”

Turning to face his daughter, Nagash replied, “Which last time I checked, in this galaxy, equalled fact.”

“He does have a point.” remarked Seph as Lumine gave her a sideways glance. Shrugging, she turned and went off to explore.

“Which brings me to my question.” said Nagash, asking as Lumine turned back to face him, “Why are you here?”

“The reasons for why I am here is none of your business!” simply replied Lumine as she crossed her arms.

“That makes it my business!” said Nagash as he made his way over to his daughter, “While I don't one bit doubt your abilities or those of Seph and Jo Lei, but going around without armed escorts is not only careless, it's also irresponsible.”

“You can talk.” said Lumine as she turned her head away, “The man with the biggest bullseye in the whole galaxy.”

Nagash turned and walked away as he responded, “That is beside the point.”

“Beside the point?!” scoffed the Imperial Princess, uncrossing her arms. This causing her father to turn back and face her as Jo Lei raised a closed fist to her mouth nervously as Lumine continued, “You are one of the most important figures in both the Skull Empire and the Universal Dominion, with the amount of acts you yourself have or have had committed makes your a primary target for assassination attempts.”

“Which have all failed might I remind you.” said Nagash as he raised his hand up and clenched it shut. He rested his fist against his hip whilst saying, “Besides, being related to me is enough to make you are a moving target.”

Disliking the arguing, Jo Lei opened her mouth to speak. But before the acrobat could, Lumine said, “I’ve been able to defend myself, having to learn how to since you were never a constant presence in my life.” The Imperial Princess placed a hand against her hip and said, “Besides, if I cared what you think then I would be spending all my time on Repulus being a peacock princess, having everything attended to me at whim.”

“Now that she mentions that, it does sound kinda boring.” piped in Jo Lei as Nagash turned and looked over at her. Making herself scarce, she turned, flipped onto her hands and walked away on them.

Lumine's eyes remained fixed on her father as she spat, “Well I'm sorry to disappoint you dear father, but I am my own woman and I don't need your approval to do anything.”

Before Nagash had the chance to retort, Seph spoke up, “Princess Lumine, Praetor Nagash, you both may want to see this.”

“What have you found Seph?” asked the Imperial Princess as her friend moved her head in the direction of what she had located.

Both father and daughter made their way over to Seph who led them to what she had found, tension still high between them. As they reached the location that Seph was leading them, she picked up an object and showed it to them. It had an aged appearance, seemingly having been there for decades. It was a long thin rusted silver tube with wires sprouting from the bottom of it, six curved white discs which rested close to the black eyepiece with the iris deactivated.

Raising her eyebrow, Lumine said, “Some kind of eye.”

“Or was.” added Nagash, raising a hand to his beard and said, “From some sort of mechaniloid I've not seen before.”

“There appears to be more of these remains scattered over this way, Jo Lei has gone over to investigate further.” explained Seph as pointed gestured with the eyestalk. “From what I can see, these remains have been here for at least a few months if not more.”

“Hey, I think you guys may want to look at this.” called out Jo Lei.

Nagash, Lumine and Seph moved to join her as they walked across a field of various scrap metal. Pieces of bronze armour with gold hemispheres were everywhere they went some of them still had their eyestalks attached to a dome. Seph noticed something sticking out of the ground that at first she thought were trees, but were actually long thin mechanical arms with plungers attached to them and a one barrel gun with eight surrounding rods. Each part was burned and rusted from fire and time spent in the open.

“Some sort of skirmish?” asked Seph as she walked between father and daughter.

Nagash nodded as he said, “It appears that is the case.”

“What or who could have done this?” asked Lumine aloud, the same question on all their minds. As they approached the acrobat, she asked, “Jo Lei, what have you found?”

“Some kind of drawing.” answered the acrobat. She had an hand on her hip as she leant her head to one side as she tried to decipher what she had come across. They looked at what appeared to be burned into the rock face, written circles within circles.

“What does it mean?” asked Seph as she studied it, “It is some form of language?”

“It is.” answered Nagash who surprisingly read it out loud, “Lord Fear was here. This world is defended!”

The three women turned to face Nagash as the Imperial Princess raised an eyebrow, “How were you able to translate what it means?”

“I don't know, it just came to me.” the Imperial Leader responded. He turned away as he said quietly to himself, “Fear, you continue to meddle in the affairs of my galaxy.”

Rolling her eyes, Lumine turned to Seph and Jo Lei, “Well this has turned out to be a wasted journey, we're done.” She began to walk away, pressing a button on her bracelet as she opened a communications channel, “Katicus, beam us up.” Hearing only the buzz of static, Lumine altered the frequency and said “Colonel Katicus respond.” Annoyed at the lack of response due to the interference, Lumine turned to face her father demanding,“What have you done?”

Snapping out of his thoughts, Nagash turned to Lumine and replied, “Nothing.” Lifting his gauntlet up, he opened his own channel, “Thaddeus, report.” The buzz of static greeted the Imperial Leader in return as he altered frequencies, “Commander Thaddeus, respond.”

“The interference on my terminal and now the communication jamming.” said Lumine as she came to realise, “This is not just a coincidence, but preplanned.”

Hearing something moving in the distance, Jo Lei turned to see figures approaching in the shadows, “Looks like we have company.”

Nagash looked over in Jo Lei’s general direction and looked at what she was seeing, “I know that speed of movement.” he said narrowing his eyes, “Only one species moves with that quickness.”

Giving a sideways glance, Seph spoke, “Praetor Nagash, you deemed Exta Primarius to be an unimportant, backwater world.” she paused as Nagash nodded in response as she added, “One that would be perfect for insurgents to construct a trap.”

“Indeed.” he replied. Recognising the sounds of the safeties from ion disruptor rifles being disengaged before yelling out, “Run for cover!”

The four bolted away as weapons fire rained down on the location which they had previously stood. Their attackers pursued them from their vantage points as Nagash raised his arm up and fired a few energy blasts that failed to deter them. They settled in a new vantage location and aimed their weapons at the vehicles as the four made their way to them.

A hail of plasma bolts struck the energy tanks on the air bikes causing them to violently explode. Flaming debris to fly everywhere, with the worst it being mentally scattered away by Lumine. The Imperial Princess, Seph and Jo Lei then ran and took cover behind the stronger armour of the Air Chariot's control deck as Nagash pulled out his bolt pistol. The Imperial Leader fired a few rounds off before turning, ran up the sloped metallic hull of the Air Chariot, ducking down behind the controls, kneeling down and keeping his head low. He turned his head to see Lumine was right beside him as she checked on her friends as he asked, “Are you alright Lumine?”

Noticing her father next to her, Lumine nodded, “Yes.” Turning to face him saying, “Who are they?”

“Nekogens.” He answered gravely. “And they just chose the wrong person to lure into a trap.”

“You?” She asked as he turned his gaze towards her.

“No, you.” He replied, placing a hand over her’s which caused her to look over at him, “They may be after me, but involving you in this is the greatest mistake they made.”

The gunfire suddenly stopped all of a sudden as Nagash raised his bolt pistol slowly. He stopped after they heard the sound of a weapon charging up, Jo Lei asked, “What was that sound?”

“An ion blaster.” responded Nagash as he holstered his bolt pistol. He pressed down on a switch on the dashboard as compartment one side of the controls opened up to revealed a bolter and plasma rifle. Grabbing hold of the plasma rifle, Nagash brought it up and began opening firing at the location of the attackers. Ducking down as he asking the three as he reached for the bolter, “Do any of you know how to fire one of these?”

“No.” responded Lumine.

“I'm afraid not.” flatly replied Seph.

“Nope.” answered Jo Lei as she shook her head.

Although hidden by his mask, Nagash rolled his eyes while muttering under his breath, “Great.” The Imperial Leader reached up and pressed down on another switch that opened another compartment to reveal a set of six grenades. “Then take these. Pull the pin out, throw it and then run.”

The three woman looked at each other before sharing the grenades between themselves, two a piece. Doing as instructed, they pulled the pins out and threw them with Lumine telekinetically giving them an extra push through the air. As yells came from the attackers, Nagash took aim and fired the plasma rifle. The grenades exploded as Nagash’s plasmafire melted through the ion blaster, causing the weapon to explode and vaporise the Nekogen's head and chest. With the attackers in disarray, Nagash deactivated the safety measures on the rifle, set it to overload and threw it as hard as he could. He, Lumine, Seph and Jo Lei took cover in some ruins as the rifle exploded.

“This is probably not the best time to ask this, but is this a form of father-daughter bonding?” asked Jo Lei as Nagash and Lumine slowly both turned and stared at her as she gave a constrained grin.

Seph looked at Jo Lei with a raised eyebrow, rolling her eyes before asking, “How many?”

“Was twenty, now nineteen and wearing very light form fitting armour, they planned this one out.” Nagash answered as their location was assaulted by concentrated disruptor fire. As he reached once more for his bolt pistol and shouted, “You three leave this area now, it's me they want.”

As Nagash looked for a opening, Lumine looked over at her father. Shaking her head, Lumine yelled out “No.”

“This is not up to debate, Lumine.” argued Nagash as he summoned a bolt of black lightning in his closed fist. Then thrusting forward and opening his hand releasing it as it ignited the trees where the Nekogen fighters were hiding on fire. Following that he raised his bolt pistol and fired off shots at any of the attackers he laid eyes on as he yelled out, “Go!”

“As I said dear father, I'm not leaving.” defiantly yelled Lumine. She reached into her coat’s pocket, turning to face Jo Lei and Seph before she pulled out her henshin wand.  She stepped out into the open, held the wand above her head and called out, “Repulus Planet Power, Make Up!”

The Nekogens and Nagash stopped what they were doing as they watched Lumine instantly transform into the Sailor Guardian, Sailor Repulus. A ball of plasma expanded from the wand, consuming Lumine until it dissipated and she emerged transformed. Hair hanging loosely as a tiara connected with her gem. The new attire, held the distinctive resemblance to the appearance of a Sailor Guardian. Her attire was different from a traditional Guardian, mostly made of flexible ornate light and dark blue armour with platinum highlights, rather than cloth and showing very little skin except for the head, neck and upper arms. Hanging from the waist was a open fronted ankle long battle skirt, it’s colour and that of the collar being dark blue. The outfit still had it’s feminine look even if it did not have the traditional bows.

“I am Sailor Repulus.” she announced as she took a few steps towards her attackers. She raised a hand and pointed at them, “Leave now and you shall be granted mercy, stay and you shall have none!”

Seph walked forward to join Sailor Repulus’ side, taking hold of her beamsabre hilts while Jo Lei joined her other side, stretching her arms ready for a fight. A smirk crept onto Nagash’s face as he beheld the irony before him. He, the man responsible for eliminating all the Sailor Guardians in the Empyrean galaxy bar two and who loathed them, was working alongside a Sailor Guardian that happen to be his own daughter.

Walking out of cover, Nagash placed the bolt pistol in its holster and joined the three in the open. Still smirking as he stood next to his daughter and her friends. The Nekogens reloaded their weapons and readied them at their targets as Sailor Repulus raised her arms up. Moving them with quick precise speed in a circular motion. Finishing by placing hands either side of head, closed before yelling out, “White Lightning Strike!”

Extending three fingers on one hand, Sailor Repulus aimed it forwards, stepping forward as white lightning fired out from them. The attack flew with ferocity towards the Nekogens position, causing them to dive and scatter as it flew over them. The trees it struck were violently set ablaze as the insurgents rose and returned fire. Seph activated her beamsabres and began swinging them with great concentration. Plasma bolts struck the yellow coloured beams with each swing knocking them aside. Seph pressed forward with each swing, Jo Lei following closely behind.

Firing off energy blasts from his hands, Nagash asked, “Can you cover me?”

“To your Air Chariot?” asked Sailor Repulus with a sideways gaze. Nodding, she answered, “Of course I can.” The two ran towards the skimmer as a few of the fighters broke off from their attack on the advancing Seph and followed them. As Nagash carried on towards the vehicle, Sailor Repulus stopped and turned. As the insurgents aimed their weapons at them both, she raised her hands up opened in front of her saying as they opened fire, “Negation Barrier!”

Inches from Sailor Repulus, the bolts struck an invisible barrier causing them to dissipate before they even touched her. With the weapon fire kept at bay, Nagash took the opportunity and boarded his Air Chariot once more. He powered up the skimmer's thrusters and took hold of the controls. The Imperial Leader piloted forwards before turning around as Sailor Repulus rolled out of the way giving her father a clean firing view. Revving up the six barrelled gatling bolters which stuck out the dragon mouths where the wings attached to the hull, ready to fire. Pressing down the triggers, the weapons opened fired as the bolts ripped through the trees.

The Nekogens split off into smaller groups knowing that if they stayed together, the gatling bolters would have chewed right through them. One of the groups found themselves standing opposite Seph and Jo Lei, waiting for battle. The two charged the group who activated their own beamsabres in response. One of the insurgents swung his beamsabre at Jo Lei only for the acrobat to duck down, then she quickly used light jabs with her fingers and knuckles all across the Nekogen's arm. Losing all sense of feeling in his arm and letting go of his beamsabre, the Nekogen tried to punch her but was too slow as Jo Lei swiped his legs out from under him and promptly knocking him unconscious.

As Jo Lei began moving onto another insurgent to repeat the process, the rest contented with Seph. Despite being trained soldiers in their own right with the advantage in numbers, they struggled against her. She managed to block each of their strikes and followed with an attack of her own with her beamsabres. Each of the blades moving and meeting in a twisted form of dance.

“You should all just quit while you’re all ahead.” warned Seph as he lips lifted into a small smile. She pushed back against her attackers, forcing them back as she explained, “I was taught by one of the best beamsabre wielders in the Skull Empire.”

Flying over the battlefield, Nagash pressed a button on the Air Chariot’s controls as the centre of the sloped hull opened up to reveal a plasma cannon. He pressed down on the trigger, charging the cannon up to just over the safety limits as he piloted towards a group of insurgents. before firing the huge bolt of plasma. It hurtled through out the air before taking out three off the fighters, who despite being in cover, failed to escape the blast radius.

Nagash surveyed the area from his vantage position and spotted a lone cloaked and hooded Nekogen retreating, jumping aboard a air bike. “That must be their leader, wanting to turn tail and run?” he asked, a smirk creeping onto his face as the Nekogen sped off, “How amusing, but I won't let whoever it is escape.”

“Chase her, we'll take care of things here.” said Sailor Repulus, catching his attention. Keeping her own attention on a group of insurgents aiming their weapons as her as she raised and crossed her arms into an X with closed fists, “Dragon Plasma Rage!”

Throwing her hands forward, cupping and opening them, blue fireballs flew from her palms. The insurgents jumped for cover as the fire blasted over them. Seeing that Sailor Repulus, Seph and Jo Lei had the situation under control, Nagash pressed forward and flew after the fleeing Nekogen at high speed.

Seph continued her battle with the insurgents as she began to get the upper hand. Jo Lei snuck in behind some of the insurgents and with short quick jabs to their arms, causing them to let go of their weapons. With feeling lost in their arms, Seph fired her wrist mounted dart launchers causing them to be fly towards and be pinned against the nearest wall by their clothes as Jo Lei then promptly knocked them out.

An insurgent swung his beamsabre to try and take Seph’s head off. However, Seph flipped backwards and as her feet came up, fired more darts from her ankle mounted dart launchers.

As the fierce battle continued on, the three Reploids slowly whittled down the Nekogen fighters and incapacitated them with non-lethal means. However, they eventually found themselves surrounded by the remaining ten insurgents. Sailor Repulus widened her eyes as the rifles were psychically snacthed away from their hands. Then narrowing them, the Nekogens then found themselves lifted with ease from the ground and gasping for air as Sailor Repulus choked them with the power of her mind.

Jo Lei rushed in and began to incapacitate them one by one. As Sailor Repulus let go of each insurgent that was unconscious, Seph made use of her dart launchers to pin them down in order to keep them in one place for when they came about. It was only a matter of time until the three women were the last ones standing.

“All in a days work.” Jo Lei boasted as she blew on her fingers and knuckles. The acrobat placed her hands on her hips as she turned to one of the Nekogens taunting, “You are not prettier than me!”

Sailor Repulus placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder, “They really aren’t.”

Suddenly the proximity shook causing rubble to shift as if something large and mechanical had landed nearby. The whirring of servos and thumps of movements began heading towards them at a quick pace. As it got closer to them, Jo Lei said, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

“Indeed.” said Seph in agreement as she readied her beamsabres.

The three waited as the sounds of mechanical stomping came close to their location. Emerging from behind the ruins was a battlesuit that stood twenty feet high, towering over the the three woman as the camera in the suit’s head focused in on them. Sleekly and elegantly designed and at one time a pinnacle of Nekogen technology, but time and lack of resources for maintenance had taken its toll.

The battlesuit raised its weapons, cycle ion disruptors attached to its forearms up at the three. Just as the weapons fired, Sailor Repulus hastily raised her hands ups once more, calling out, “Negation Barrier!” With the barrier raised once more, the battle suit continued firing as the Sailor Guardian held her ground. Protecting not just her friends but also the insurgents who attacked them. She looked over her shoulder at Jo Lei and Seph, “Deal with it.”

The two nodded to each other and they both split off as the battlesuit giving its full attention to attacking the Imperial Princess, recognising her as the biggest threat. The battlesuit lowered one arm and pulled back the other with its large metallic fist. It lunged forward at Sailor Repulus who lowered her defensive barrier and used her psychic abilities. Despite the telepathic resistance, the battlesuit’s fist pressed on against her and only stopping mere inches from her face.

Having gotten out of the way of gunfire, Seph and Jo Lei stopped and turned. The governor's daughter studied the battlesuit and paid attention to the various joints. Glancing over to her friend, “Those joints, what do you make of them?”

Looking at the areas specified, Jo Lei said, “From what I can see, they could be susceptible weak points.” She turned to Seph, “If you use your beamsabres, you should be able to disable it.”

Seph nodded, “Very well.” She deactivated one of her beamsabres and began walking towards the battlesuit, “I really don't have time for this.” Pausing for a second as she clipped the hilt to her belt and narrowed her eyes at the insurgent hardware, “Or you.”

She then broke into a run towards the battlesuit as it continued firing on Sailor Repulus. The Sailor Guardian was beginning to show signs of straining under the constant heavy firepower. As she reached the legs of the battlesuit, Seph brought back her beamsabre and swung it round as it met the ankle joint causing sparks to fly. Her face was of pure concentration as she continued pushing the blade into the ankle joint.

This had an effect as the battlesuit stopped shooting at Sailor Repulus and began searching for Seph. Seeing it was about to move, Seph deactivated her beamsabre and rolled out of the way as the battlesuit jumped back. Landing, it collapsed down to one knee due to the damage on the ankle joint. Standing back up, she turned to face Sailor Repulus and reactivated her weapon. Nodding at each other, Seph twirled the beamsabre around as she then faced their enemy.

The battlesuit closed a fist and pressed forward. It connected the ground but missed as Sailor Repulus gave Seph a boost as the beamsabre user jumped high into the air. Upon landing on it, she ran up the arm. Upon reaching the shoulder and raising her weapon, Seph brought it down as it. slicing through the arm joint. The battlesuit tried to jerk around to shake her off, only to no avail as Sailor Repulus used her psychic abilities to keep it still steady. Knowing how much strain it was taking for her friend to hold the combat exoskeleton still, Seph knew she had to act quickly.

Quickly grabbing her second beamsabre from her belt and activating it, Seph moved over to the head. Standing in front of the head, coldly staring into the lense, “I’m afraid you’re going down!”

Crossing both her beamsabres, she brought them cross and sliced into the neck as sparks flew. simultaneously as she slice through the neck. The glow of the lense began flashing as the power fluctuated. After enough damage had been done and the glow of the lense had died off completely, Seph deactivated her beamsabres. She then quickly ran off the battlesuit the way she had come as Sailor Repulus began moving her arms once more in quick precise circular motions. Once Seph had made it off the suit, the Sailor Guardain placed her hands either side of her head. Closing them before yelling out Finishing by placing hands either side of head, closed before yelling out,“White Lightning Strike!”

Swinging her arm in the direction of the battlesuit and opening three fingers, she fired off her attack. Seph made her way over to her as the white lightning bolts struck the combat exoskeleton. Overloading its systems through the openings at the weakened joints. Sailor Repulus let go of it with her psychic powers as it fell onto its back and lay motionless.

Relaxing from channeling her attack and abilities, Sailor Repulus took a deep breath as Seph walked towards her. The Sailor Guardian stood up straight, “Are you alright?”

“That didn't even make me break a sweat.” said Seph rolling her eyes proclaiming, “Oh well, victory is dull.”

Jo Lei ran over to Seph and gave her friend a hug, “Even though our lives were in danger, I found that exciting.”

Seph glanced over at her, “Only you would.” She said in response and detached herself from her friend. Attaching the beamsabre hilts to her belt, “What is the whereabouts of Praetor Nagash?”

“He went after that one Nekogen and hasn't returned yet.” explained Sailor Repulus as she walked past her friends and towards the downed battlesuit. Stopping to remark, “Dear father can look after himself.”

“But Lumy, aren't you the least bit concerned?” ask Jo Lei as the doors of the battlesuit slid open.

“No.” replied Sailor Repulus bluntly. After a few seconds, she then whispered, “Maybe.”

She turned to face her friends, but it was then the battlesuits pilot stood into view. Before Seph and Jo Lei could react, he pulled out his disruptor pistol ordering, “Stay where you are Princess.” Aiming it at the back of Sailor Repulus’s head, he moved off and jumped down from the battlesuit, “And you two don't even move a muscle and drop your weapons.”

“Great.” said Seph annoyed. She narrowed her eyes at the pilot. Detaching and letting her beamsabre hilts drop to the ground.

“There was a pilot in there?” questioned Jo Lei allowed as she tilted her head. She turned to Seph and said, “I thought it was automated.”

“Semi-automated.” answered the pilot.

“Well that answers that.” said Jo Lei with a shrug as Sailor Repulus rolled her eyes at the situation.

“To think a unit of trained soldiers lost to three women.” said the pilot as he slowly moved towards the three, yet kept his distance. Keeping his eyes on them admitting, “I thought when the Endbringer left, it would have been easier to deal with you”

Seph smirked, explaining, “Well I’m sorry to disappoint you that you got defeated by two civilians and the Princess of the Skull Empire-”

“Who is also a Sailor Guardian.” said Jo Lei interjecting herself.

“-It would have not mattered if the Endbringer, or to refer to him properly, Praetor Nagash, had left or not.” continued on the governor's daughter, “We happen to be highly trained in our respective fields and weapons, that also goes for Sailor Repulus.”

“Yes, a Sailor Guardian.” he said with some disgust. His eyes narrowed at her and explained, “The name of Sailor Repulus used to stand as a symbol for hope, justice, peace and the light which illuminated the darkness. Yet you are the one who is helping that darkness blot out the light.” He stopped and shook his head before saying with disgust, “I should execute you!”

“Says the person who openly fired at us when your comrades were incapacitated at our feet.” replied Sailor Repulus, “Had I not used my defensive ability when I did, they would have died.”

The pilot snorted, “Better to die free than to let the Endbringer decide their fates.”

“Really now?” asked the Imperial Princess calmly, “Then what is stopping me from suffocating you?”

The pilot reached down to his belt and turned a dial on a large disc shaped device. As a light began flashing and moving around the edge of the unit, he provokingly said, “Go right ahead and try.”

Sailor Repulus tried to reach out to him with her mind but could not sense his presence let alone try to reach out and attack him. “Impossible.” She whispered as she continued to try using her psychic powers to sense anyone. Not used to being able to use her unique abilities, she demanded, “What have you done?”

The pilot smirked as he patted the device, “Psychic null matrix.”

“Explain.” demanded Seph.

“Gladly. It sends out sonic frequencies in omnidirectional paths. If in the vicinity of someone with psychic powers, it suppresses specific parts of the minds used for them.” He took a few steps towards Sailor Repulus as he slowly turned the dial on the device more. As the light around it moved even faster, he commented, “We had hope to try it on the Sorcerer, but the Princess of the Skull Empire, a Sailor Guardian nonetheless is even better.”

Raising a hand to her head, Sailor Repulus began to feel her head throb in pain and felt faint. Finding it hard to focus as she whispered, “My head.”

The pilot raised the butt of his pistol up and struck Sailor Repulus in the back of the head with it. He quickly aimed it at Seph and Jo Lei before aiming it at the back of Sailor Repulus’ head asking, “Now Princess, what's stopping me from blowing your brains out?”

“Me!” came a familiar voice as the Nekogen turned only to receive a bolt between the eyes which sent him flying off his feet and to the ground with a huge chunk of the back of his head missing. Jo Lei and Seph turned to see Nagash holding his bolt pistol raised forward as smoke rose from the barrel. The Imperial Leader began approaching with his weapon trained on the prone form until he knelt next to his daughter asking with concern, “Are you alright Lumine?”

Shaking her head, she raised a hand to her head as she said, “Just destroy that null matrix.”

Holstering his bolt pistol, Nagash raised his hand. Firing an energy blast at the dead Nekogens' belt, striking the null matrix and destroying it in the process. Sailor Repulus sighed as she slowly felt the headache beginning to dissipate. She rested back in her father’s arms as he held her. Laying, she opened her eyes, looking up at her father’s face. Seeing his eyes through the lenses of his mask and whispering to him, “Thank you.”

Smiling, Nagash nodded in response as Seph and Jo Lei came over to check on Sailor Repulus. The governer’s daughter knelt down and nodded to Nagash whom allowed her to take hold of Sailor Repulus. The Imperial Leader placed a hand on top of his daughter’s head before standing up and moving along. As he walked towards the downed battlesuit, he recognised the damage caused by beamsabres. The Imperial Leader turned back to Seph and asked, “Did you do this?”

Seph nodded and explained, “It was being quite a nuisance, I did what I had to in order to ensure our survival.”

“I’m impressed, nicely done.” responded Nagash, Before turning back, he gestured for Jo Lei to follow and the two headed towards it explaining, “We need to disable the jamming device.” Finding areas to grip hold to, he climbed onto the torso of the battlesuit as the acrobat jumped up beside him as he continued, “It should be in the carcass of this battlesuit.”

“What does it look like?” asked Jo Lei as she climbed into the combat exoskeleton and sat in the pilot's seat.

“A small, box shape, non-descriptive and a switch and a tuner used to set frequencies.” replied the Imperial Leader as he leaned inside the cockpit and held himself on the frame of the entrance. “It should be nearby for the pilot to use.”

“This?” asked Jo Lei, pointing at a device matching Nagash's description. Flicking the switch causing the light to go dead as she said, “And it's off.”

“Good.” said Nagash as he detached the device from the interior and ripped the cables which attached it to the cockpit out with it. “I shall have Gaite analyse it thoroughly once I return to Repulus. It is the first time we've been able to acquire one of these battlesuits mostly intact.”

The acrobat climbed out and walked around in front of the Imperial Leader, asking, “Is that because they always get totalled?”

“Precisely.” answered Nagash as he turned and jumped down from the downed battlesuit.

Watching as Nagash began walking away, Jo Lei jumped down herself and slowly followed the Imperial Leader. She quietly asked, “So, what do they mean by calling you Endbringer?”

Stopping, Nagash half turned back to her and said, “I’ll tell you later.” Before Jo Lei could press the matter further, Nagash slid open his gauntlet and opened a communications channel, “This is Praetor Nagash, prepare a platoon to take some remaining Nekogen rebels that have just attacked myself, Princess Lumine and her friends captive and ready for questioning.” Upon issuing the order, the Imperial Leader added, “All those who wishing to debrief me about what has happened here may do so upon my return to the Darkstar Fortress, over and out.”

Nagash shut off the communications line. He resumed walking over to his Air Chariot and once arrived, he stared at the unconscious Nekogen laying upon on it.
